YUX is a pan-African research & design company that mixes sociology, behavioral sciences, human computer interaction and machine learning to co-create service, tech and AI products tailored to African communities.

Human-centered design and rigorous research methodologies have been at the core of YUX's DNA from the start, with a strong emphasis on participatory and mixed methods approaches that place communities at the heart of every project. Started in Senegal, YUX is today a team of 40 people spread across Dakar, Abuja, Lagos, Kigali, Nairobi, Brazzaville and Accra.

We partner with Google, TikTok, Wikipedia, Meta, GSMA, Gates Foundation, UNICEF and many local tech and social impact partners for projects in health, education, agriculture and fintech. In 2024, YUX launched the Cultural AI Lab (Kitala) to address the need for culturally relevant datasets and AI evaluations in Africa. Founded in 2016, YUX was initially a design community, and our roots remain community and locally-based, privileging designers and researchers with lived experience and shared stories with the communities we design with.
